When we travel between central NY and Florida, we usually come down I-81 and hang a left at I-77. Campgrounds seem to be pretty slim pickings along I-77. So, on this last trip, using our new RV Trip Wizard we found the River Walk in Elkin/Jonesville area. Fifty-eight miles down I-77 from I-81 on the Yadkin River.
Have never been greeted at the entrance by such a lovely lady with a goody bag for us. Had all of our paperwork there too, and some flyers from local restaurants. Made us feel welcome. They’ve put in a little beach area over on the backside at the river. Didn’t get to go see it, but will next time for sure.
In the brochure it said something about be sure to visit an area, a tribute to those who have crossed the rainbow bridge. I emailed the office (it was after hours) to ask what this was about and received an almost immediate reply. She said it’s in a large landscaped area before the gate to walk over to the bark park. It’s a mulched trail, wooden bridge and some signs. So your pets are very welcomed and lot’s of thought has gone into their comfort.
$69.00 for the night, but so peaceful and quiet. An effortless 1.5-mile drive from the Interstate. The town seems to have anything you need wrapped up in a small hometown feeling.
Definitely worth a stop. This is one place we’d like to return to when we can spend a couple of days.
So, Happy Trails,
Randy and Janet
